Faith Like A Child
Scripture: Mark 4:35-41
Introduction: Story of Logan and his fear of storms, how he comes running to our room for comfort and protection. He feels safe just knowing that we are there in the bed with him..
1. As adults, what do we put our faith in?
a. Car will start
b. Seatbelt or airbags will work in an accident
c. Our bed will hold us when we jump into it
d. We don’t lay awake at night wondering and worrying if these things will work
2. Read Mark 4:35-41
a. Great storm (amplified bible – storm of hurricane proportion)
b. Jesus is sleeping
c. 12 Barney Fifes bailing water and patching holes
d. Teacher, do you care if we drown?
i. How many times have we said that?
e. Jesus calms the storms with four words
f. Do you STILL have no faith
i. They had seen many miracles performed by Jesus
g. Do you think he was really sleeping?
i. Maybe he was praying that they would have faith
3. Jesus never abandons those who get on the boat with him
a. He never bails out on us
b. He stays in the boat with us making sure that the storm passes
4. What do you put your faith in?
a. The boat with Jesus
b. Outside the boat drowning
Closing: Sleeping or waking Jesus loves you with a love that will not let you go. Sleeping or waking Jesus is the ruler of the winds and the waves. He WILL calm the storm in HIS time, and in HIS way.
