Sermon Notes:

Psalm 103:14-22
===============
Psalm 103:14-22 (NLT)
---------------
14 For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. 15 Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. 16 The wind blows, and we are gone— as though we had never been here. 17 But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children 18 of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments! 19 The LORD has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. 20 Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. 21 Yes, praise the LORD, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! 22 Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD.

John 15:5
===============
John 15:5 (NLT)
---------------
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:7
===============
John 15:7 (NLT)
---------------
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

Full of Jesus
===============
Note “I in them” = My words remain in you. Full of the Word = Full of Jesus. Full of Jesus produces 2 things: 1) much ‘fruit’, riches that remain—our own lives impacted by the Word and souls influenced for the Kingdom and 2) prayers that result in answers

Psalm 103:14-17
===============
Psalm 103:14-17 (NLT)
---------------
14 For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. 15 Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. 16 The wind blows, and we are gone— as though we had never been here. 17 But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children

2 Corinthians 5:17
===============
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
---------------
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Lamentations 3:22-23
===============
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT)
---------------
22 The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Renewed
===============
God created time for our good per the creation story in Genesis. (He saw it was good. Not for Him, but for the ones He was creating for—humans.) We are given “new starts, new beginnings”, every year, every season, every day, every minute. He chose to forget our sins, but He also chose to remember our propensity to sin, so He doesn’t just forget, He empowers us and gives us ‘new days’ for a fresh start. Unwrapping our salvation gift reveals “New Days”—the power of Re-Newed!

Psalm 103:17-21
===============
Psalm 103:17-21 (NLT)
---------------
17 But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him.

Galatians 6:15
===============
Galatians 6:15 (NLT)
---------------
It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.

Regenerated (Re-gene-rated)
===============
Something totally new—we are new creations, not remodeled ones. We have been given a new gene pool—God’s! Our excuses for failing, or not even trying, our failures are linked to our old gene pool. “My family has a history of (fill in the blank) : sickness, disease, failing, addiction, etc.” Note Psalm 103: “We were as grass the wind blows and we are gone.” The grass in Israel turns from green and lush to brown and dead in a week when the winds change. But now, because of His love for us, we have the capacity to effect generations.

Romans 8:37
===============
Romans 8:37 (NLT)
---------------
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Regenerated (continued)
===============
Despite all these things = our old ‘gene pool’, our ‘weakness’. Victory because of His love.

Psalm 103:22
===============
Psalm 103:22 (NLT)
---------------
Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD.

Ephesians 4:24
===============
Ephesians 4:24 (NLT)
---------------
Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

Re-purposed
===============
We have a choice—put on the new nature and the purpose that comes with it—living for the Kingdom and others—or keep wearing the old nature and living for ourselves. When we choose the new nature and purpose, we take the limits off Heaven’s ability to intervene in our life. When we choose our own way and purpose, we put limits on God’s involvement in our lives. (Psalm 78:41 NKJV)

Romans 8:28-29
===============
Romans 8:28-29 (NLT)
---------------
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

His purpose becomes our purpose.
===============
His purpose becomes our purpose.

So What?
===============
Unwrapping this aspect of Salvation in our lives.

Titus 3:5
===============
Titus 3:5 (NLT)
---------------
he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

Live life intentionally
===============
1. Intentionally get in the Word so the Word gets in you. The power of SOAP is not just reading, but purposefully expecting God to speak to you. Wayne Cordiero, “I don’t start each morning studying the Word. I start each morning letting the Word study me.” 2. Be intentional about living for the Kingdom. Just like you intentionally put on clothes each day, put on your Heavenly purpose.

Sermon Notes:

Interview with Melissa James, Pastor Tony's adopted daughter

Ephesians 1:4-5
===============
Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT)
---------------
4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Psalm 103:13
===============
Psalm 103:13 (NLT)
---------------
The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

Esther
===============
Esther was adopted. Mordecai was her adoptive father. (Esther 2:7) He came to her with the plan to destroy his people. She had a choice, ignore it, run from it, or do something about it. She chose to honor her father and do what he would have done, but could not (it required a woman). She was born for such a time as this. We are God's adopted children. He has revealed satan's plan to destroy people. We have a choice, ignore it and by doing so actually join in satan's destructive schemes, run from it, again becoming an accomplice to destruction, or do something about it. God, who would do it, cannot because He keeps His word and He has limited Himself to accomplishing things on earth through mankind (dominion over all the works of His hands, "You limit the Holy One of Israel"). We honor our Father when we do what He would do.

Moses
===============
Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter. (Acts 7:21) Positioned with influence. His adoption gave him a platform. He was uniquely qualified to represent God to Pharaoh. We are uniquely qualified to represent God to those with whom we have influence. The things that led to his adoption, his adoption itself, became tools in the hands of God to deliver a nation and lead them to God.

Our adoption
===============
Our adoption by God was His plan, His desire. We are His as much as Jesus is His, and He makes no difference between us and Jesus. We are born, not of the will or action of man, but by a choice of God.

John 1:12-13
===============
John 1:12-13 (NLT)
---------------
12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

So What?
===============
* Take His name, accept His love, He has made you His child, make Him your Father.

* Quit identifying with the birth parents (this world and its systems) that seek only to control, use, misuse, abuse and manipulate you. Even when they seek to woo you with seeming good things, you have a new identity. You have Father who has given everything to make you His, and takes pleasure in giving you the Kingdom. Find out who He says you are. He knows you better than anyone. Find your identity in Christ--our savior, and the salvation gift He so graciously gives.

Ask yourself 3 questions when making choices:
===============
* What's the Big Picture? What will be the end result of this choice in my life and the life of those around me?

* What does God think about this?

* What would Jesus want to be done?

Conclusion
===============
One of the things I always wondered during the times Melissa had “abandoned” us, was why were we the bad guys? We had opened our lives, our hearts, to her, giving her all we knew to give to be good parents, including the discipline and boundaries that would protect her. But, if we look at the way we abandon God, who has done nothing but good to us, it becomes clear—we must withdraw from God, and the things of God, to draw nearer to unrighteousness. Because of His light, His goodness, His nature in us, we must remove ourselves from Him if we want to pursue darkness. Sin cannot enter His presence, so we must leave His presence to enter sin. He never compromises His standards, never lessens His glory, but He never leaves, never forsakes, never abandons. It is we who do that to Him, the One who adopted us, gave us His name, His blood, His nature, His Kingdom. The One who gave us real life, eternal life.

Sermon Notes:

1st Sunday is Vision Sunday

Proverbs 29:18b (KJV) “Where there is no vision, the people perish (wander)…”

Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJV) “Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

*    Nehemiah Principle:  Important to “re-vision” every 25 to 30 days to prevent ‘vision drift’
*    Make the Vision BIG so we can see it when we are wide open, in pressurized situations, blurred by our feelings and emotions, battling fear because of bad reports (Sheryll having to quiet herself when we received the call from Melissa about Kayla’s sight), disqualifying ourselves because of mistakes, or becoming complacent or overconfident because everything is going so well (Timothy about to wander out into ocean alone, “I got this.”)

A Regional Church Sharing the Life-Giving Message of Jesus with West Georgia and the World.

This is the reason God has birthed this church and Jesus is building it.  This is the reason the Holy Spirit is helping us.  When we make a choice to become a member of LifeGate Church, we are joining a vision—it is becoming ours.  God begins with a vision.  He finds those who will join Him in the vision and make it theirs, not just His, and then the vision begins to come to pass.  God had a vision for a Messiah for thousands of years.  But when a young girl named Mary joined that vision, making it “theirs” instead of just “His”, the vision came to pass.  When we become a member of LifeGate, we adopt the vision, it becomes “ours” instead of “theirs”, and it begins to come to pass.  “…Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come…” Vision requires people taking ownership, investing their time, talent, and resources in the vision.  Each time someone becomes a member of LifeGate, takes ownership of the vision, and begins investing their time, talent and resources into that vision, we move forward.  Heaven’s plan for our church comes to pass.  What’s it mean to be a member of LifeGate?  It means we are co-owners of Heaven’s vision for our church.  That’s so much more than our traditional view of membership.  Our church is not a place we go, we are the church and we are members of Heaven’s strategic plan for our home, our neighborhood, our city, our region and the world.  If the vision God has given our church is accomplished, each of us and everybody around us will be better off.  (Proverbs 29:2a “When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice…”

If Heaven’s vision for our church is going to continue to move forward then every member must find their place in that vision.  Every member must become a minister.

Acts 26:19 (NKJV) “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision”
Paul was given a vision from Heaven. (Acts 26:15-18 “And the Lord replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. 16 Now get to your feet! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and witness. You are to tell the world what you have seen and what I will show you in the future. 17 And I will rescue you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am sending you to the Gentiles 18 to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’)

He was so grateful to Jesus that nothing would stop him from obeying that vision.  Yet, in spite of the hardships he endured, Paul says his life was fulfilled, satisfying, that he wouldn’t trade all the world had to offer for what obeying that vision had brought into his life.  God’s vision is for the world, but it benefits every individual who joins it.  When we become part of a church and fail to find our place as a minister, we are being disobedient to Heaven’s vision.  But when we begin to find our place as a minister in that church, the church grows stronger, the vision moves forward, and our individual lives are blessed.  (Isaiah 1:19 NIV “If you willingly obey me, you will eat the good things of the land.”)

Ephesians 5:31-33 “As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.”

What if we treated our marriage like we treat the church, and what if we treated our church like we treat our marriage?

Our model of ministry:  Moving people from an experience to their destiny.

Revelation 1:5b-6 “Christ loves us and by his blood he set us free from our sins. He lets us rule as kings and serve God his Father as priests. To him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.”

4 progressions from Experience to Destiny

Each progression is for our personal good—we enter more into The Blessed Life, enjoying the rich and satisfying life Jesus said He came to give us—and as we move forward in each progression the Kingdom is extended.  As members of LifeGate, each progression makes us healthier as individuals and moves us forward in Heaven’s vision for our church.

1.   “Christ loves us….” The lost get saved, the hurting get healed, the broken get fixed. This happens when we gather together in our large meetings.  It’s important that our weekend celebrations are a safe place for you to bring your friends and family, the unconnected and the disconnected.
Weekend Celebrations – Experiencing God’s love, forgiveness and freedom.

2.   “…lets us rule as kings…” The saved get pastored. This starts with learning to manage (rule) our own lives well.  That happens as we make healthy connections, find mentors, models, friends and partners.  (Example: Melissa and Denise Wham—response to doctor’s exam of Kayla)
Connect – Developing Biblical skills for victorious life.  Doing Life together Sunday to Sunday.

3.   “…serve God, His Father, as priests…” The pastored become disciples. Discipleship doesn’t happen through information impartation, it happens as we join with others to serve God.  We learn what our specific unique gifts are and we learn how to use them, how to operate in order and under authority.  “You’ve have to get under what God puts you under before you can get over what God puts you over.”
Dream Team – Serving God in my church.  The Bible teaches that we serve “the household of faith” first.

4.   “To Him be glory… “  The disciples become ministers. We live an others-focused life, working together to transform our communities, our region and the world by serving others.  The fulfilled life is not found just by using my God-given gifts, it is found by using those gifts for the good of others.
Servolution – Fulfilling my destiny by sharing His hope all over the world.

The result is a continuously growing, healthy, happy church filled with continuously growing healthy, happy people living the Blessed Life and making the name of Jesus famous all over the world.

The ultimate reward:  Not all the blessings of the rich and satisfying life, not all the good we will experience as we follow His vision, not all the personal benefits.  The ultimate reward will be hearing our Savior, our King, the One who paid it all for us say:
Matthew 25:23 “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful…Enter into the joy of your lord.”
