Sermon Notes:

Psalm 103

Unwrapping the Gift of Salvation-Forgiven, Forgotten and Always Loved

Don’t become desensitized to what we are reading in the Word.  Don’t lose our sense of wonder, excitement and joy as we read the Bible.
Verse 3: He forgives me
Verse 12:  He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west. (This is permanent, never to be seen again. If I head east and my sins head west, we will never meet again.)
Verse 17: The love of the Lord remains forever

Point 1:

If anyone deserves to hold on to hurt and not forget, it would be God.  We put human attributes on God because that’s what we know. We therefore think He must be like us.  We think it’s impossible for Him to look at us and not remember our past because we struggle with putting it behind us. He made a choice to forgive, forget and love unconditionally. We can make the same choice.

Hosea and Gomer:  A beautiful example of God and His church.  This is a model of how He forgives us to the uttermost.  It is a choice, He chooses to love us unconditionally, restoring us through Jesus Christ

Hosea 1:  at the very place where it was said You are not my people, it will be said, You are children of the living God.

Hosea 14: 4 Then I will heal you of your faithlessness; my love will know no bounds, for my anger will be done forever

How good are we at forgiving, forgetting and loving others as He does for us?  Fortunately for us, God’s power to forgive, forget and love is perfect.

Paul had to choose to forgive himself.  God was looking at Paul’s potential.  Paul had to make a choice:  Do I stay in a mindset of inferiority, failure, insecurities and regret.  Instead, he believed God, he allowed God to change him by changing the way he thinks. (He renews our mind with His Word!)  The history of the world was changed.  God wants to use you to change the history of your world, but we have to get up, get going again. Let go of the past.  God has already forgotten and forgiven.  Don’t let the past be the thing that holds me back from the very best God has for my future.  Believe God and be free.

Point 2: Personal Story of  Forgiving, Forgetting and Always Loving

Closing:

Application: Am I ready to walk in all God has for me?  Am I ready to let go of things that hold me back?  Am I willing to allow God to show me areas where I haven’t accepted His forgiveness and love?  Am I willing to allow Him to show me areas where I haven’t forgiven, forgotten and always loved?

Know what God says about it.  Believe God has forgiven, forgotten and loves me always.  Talk like it, act like it, think like it.  Make decisions like it!  Guard what comes out of my mouth, let it reflect what the Bible says about me and others.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God! Life with Jesus is a great adventure when we walk in the freedom He died to give us.
