Sermon Notes:

Psalm 103:14-22
===============
Psalm 103:14-22 (NLT)
---------------
14 For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. 15 Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. 16 The wind blows, and we are gone— as though we had never been here. 17 But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children 18 of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments! 19 The LORD has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. 20 Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. 21 Yes, praise the LORD, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! 22 Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD.

John 15:5
===============
John 15:5 (NLT)
---------------
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:7
===============
John 15:7 (NLT)
---------------
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

Full of Jesus
===============
Note “I in them” = My words remain in you. Full of the Word = Full of Jesus. Full of Jesus produces 2 things: 1) much ‘fruit’, riches that remain—our own lives impacted by the Word and souls influenced for the Kingdom and 2) prayers that result in answers

Psalm 103:14-17
===============
Psalm 103:14-17 (NLT)
---------------
14 For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. 15 Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. 16 The wind blows, and we are gone— as though we had never been here. 17 But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children

2 Corinthians 5:17
===============
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
---------------
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Lamentations 3:22-23
===============
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT)
---------------
22 The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Renewed
===============
God created time for our good per the creation story in Genesis. (He saw it was good. Not for Him, but for the ones He was creating for—humans.) We are given “new starts, new beginnings”, every year, every season, every day, every minute. He chose to forget our sins, but He also chose to remember our propensity to sin, so He doesn’t just forget, He empowers us and gives us ‘new days’ for a fresh start. Unwrapping our salvation gift reveals “New Days”—the power of Re-Newed!

Psalm 103:17-21
===============
Psalm 103:17-21 (NLT)
---------------
17 But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him.

Galatians 6:15
===============
Galatians 6:15 (NLT)
---------------
It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.

Regenerated (Re-gene-rated)
===============
Something totally new—we are new creations, not remodeled ones. We have been given a new gene pool—God’s! Our excuses for failing, or not even trying, our failures are linked to our old gene pool. “My family has a history of (fill in the blank) : sickness, disease, failing, addiction, etc.” Note Psalm 103: “We were as grass the wind blows and we are gone.” The grass in Israel turns from green and lush to brown and dead in a week when the winds change. But now, because of His love for us, we have the capacity to effect generations.

Romans 8:37
===============
Romans 8:37 (NLT)
---------------
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Regenerated (continued)
===============
Despite all these things = our old ‘gene pool’, our ‘weakness’. Victory because of His love.

Psalm 103:22
===============
Psalm 103:22 (NLT)
---------------
Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD.

Ephesians 4:24
===============
Ephesians 4:24 (NLT)
---------------
Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

Re-purposed
===============
We have a choice—put on the new nature and the purpose that comes with it—living for the Kingdom and others—or keep wearing the old nature and living for ourselves. When we choose the new nature and purpose, we take the limits off Heaven’s ability to intervene in our life. When we choose our own way and purpose, we put limits on God’s involvement in our lives. (Psalm 78:41 NKJV)

Romans 8:28-29
===============
Romans 8:28-29 (NLT)
---------------
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

His purpose becomes our purpose.
===============
His purpose becomes our purpose.

So What?
===============
Unwrapping this aspect of Salvation in our lives.

Titus 3:5
===============
Titus 3:5 (NLT)
---------------
he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

Live life intentionally
===============
1. Intentionally get in the Word so the Word gets in you. The power of SOAP is not just reading, but purposefully expecting God to speak to you. Wayne Cordiero, “I don’t start each morning studying the Word. I start each morning letting the Word study me.” 2. Be intentional about living for the Kingdom. Just like you intentionally put on clothes each day, put on your Heavenly purpose.

Interview with Melissa James, Pastor Tony's adopted daughter

Ephesians 1:4-5
===============
Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT)
---------------
4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Psalm 103:13
===============
Psalm 103:13 (NLT)
---------------
The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

Esther
===============
Esther was adopted. Mordecai was her adoptive father. (Esther 2:7) He came to her with the plan to destroy his people. She had a choice, ignore it, run from it, or do something about it. She chose to honor her father and do what he would have done, but could not (it required a woman). She was born for such a time as this. We are God's adopted children. He has revealed satan's plan to destroy people. We have a choice, ignore it and by doing so actually join in satan's destructive schemes, run from it, again becoming an accomplice to destruction, or do something about it. God, who would do it, cannot because He keeps His word and He has limited Himself to accomplishing things on earth through mankind (dominion over all the works of His hands, "You limit the Holy One of Israel"). We honor our Father when we do what He would do.

Moses
===============
Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter. (Acts 7:21) Positioned with influence. His adoption gave him a platform. He was uniquely qualified to represent God to Pharaoh. We are uniquely qualified to represent God to those with whom we have influence. The things that led to his adoption, his adoption itself, became tools in the hands of God to deliver a nation and lead them to God.

Our adoption
===============
Our adoption by God was His plan, His desire. We are His as much as Jesus is His, and He makes no difference between us and Jesus. We are born, not of the will or action of man, but by a choice of God.

John 1:12-13
===============
John 1:12-13 (NLT)
---------------
12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

So What?
===============
* Take His name, accept His love, He has made you His child, make Him your Father.

* Quit identifying with the birth parents (this world and its systems) that seek only to control, use, misuse, abuse and manipulate you. Even when they seek to woo you with seeming good things, you have a new identity. You have Father who has given everything to make you His, and takes pleasure in giving you the Kingdom. Find out who He says you are. He knows you better than anyone. Find your identity in Christ--our savior, and the salvation gift He so graciously gives.

Ask yourself 3 questions when making choices:
===============
* What's the Big Picture? What will be the end result of this choice in my life and the life of those around me?

* What does God think about this?

* What would Jesus want to be done?

Conclusion
===============
One of the things I always wondered during the times Melissa had “abandoned” us, was why were we the bad guys? We had opened our lives, our hearts, to her, giving her all we knew to give to be good parents, including the discipline and boundaries that would protect her. But, if we look at the way we abandon God, who has done nothing but good to us, it becomes clear—we must withdraw from God, and the things of God, to draw nearer to unrighteousness. Because of His light, His goodness, His nature in us, we must remove ourselves from Him if we want to pursue darkness. Sin cannot enter His presence, so we must leave His presence to enter sin. He never compromises His standards, never lessens His glory, but He never leaves, never forsakes, never abandons. It is we who do that to Him, the One who adopted us, gave us His name, His blood, His nature, His Kingdom. The One who gave us real life, eternal life.

Sermon Notes:

1st Sunday is Vision Sunday

Proverbs 29:18b (KJV) “Where there is no vision, the people perish (wander)…”

Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJV) “Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

*    Nehemiah Principle:  Important to “re-vision” every 25 to 30 days to prevent ‘vision drift’
*    Make the Vision BIG so we can see it when we are wide open, in pressurized situations, blurred by our feelings and emotions, battling fear because of bad reports (Sheryll having to quiet herself when we received the call from Melissa about Kayla’s sight), disqualifying ourselves because of mistakes, or becoming complacent or overconfident because everything is going so well (Timothy about to wander out into ocean alone, “I got this.”)

A Regional Church Sharing the Life-Giving Message of Jesus with West Georgia and the World.

This is the reason God has birthed this church and Jesus is building it.  This is the reason the Holy Spirit is helping us.  When we make a choice to become a member of LifeGate Church, we are joining a vision—it is becoming ours.  God begins with a vision.  He finds those who will join Him in the vision and make it theirs, not just His, and then the vision begins to come to pass.  God had a vision for a Messiah for thousands of years.  But when a young girl named Mary joined that vision, making it “theirs” instead of just “His”, the vision came to pass.  When we become a member of LifeGate, we adopt the vision, it becomes “ours” instead of “theirs”, and it begins to come to pass.  “…Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come…” Vision requires people taking ownership, investing their time, talent, and resources in the vision.  Each time someone becomes a member of LifeGate, takes ownership of the vision, and begins investing their time, talent and resources into that vision, we move forward.  Heaven’s plan for our church comes to pass.  What’s it mean to be a member of LifeGate?  It means we are co-owners of Heaven’s vision for our church.  That’s so much more than our traditional view of membership.  Our church is not a place we go, we are the church and we are members of Heaven’s strategic plan for our home, our neighborhood, our city, our region and the world.  If the vision God has given our church is accomplished, each of us and everybody around us will be better off.  (Proverbs 29:2a “When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice…”

If Heaven’s vision for our church is going to continue to move forward then every member must find their place in that vision.  Every member must become a minister.

Acts 26:19 (NKJV) “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision”
Paul was given a vision from Heaven. (Acts 26:15-18 “And the Lord replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. 16 Now get to your feet! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and witness. You are to tell the world what you have seen and what I will show you in the future. 17 And I will rescue you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am sending you to the Gentiles 18 to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’)

He was so grateful to Jesus that nothing would stop him from obeying that vision.  Yet, in spite of the hardships he endured, Paul says his life was fulfilled, satisfying, that he wouldn’t trade all the world had to offer for what obeying that vision had brought into his life.  God’s vision is for the world, but it benefits every individual who joins it.  When we become part of a church and fail to find our place as a minister, we are being disobedient to Heaven’s vision.  But when we begin to find our place as a minister in that church, the church grows stronger, the vision moves forward, and our individual lives are blessed.  (Isaiah 1:19 NIV “If you willingly obey me, you will eat the good things of the land.”)

Ephesians 5:31-33 “As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.”

What if we treated our marriage like we treat the church, and what if we treated our church like we treat our marriage?

Our model of ministry:  Moving people from an experience to their destiny.

Revelation 1:5b-6 “Christ loves us and by his blood he set us free from our sins. He lets us rule as kings and serve God his Father as priests. To him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.”

4 progressions from Experience to Destiny

Each progression is for our personal good—we enter more into The Blessed Life, enjoying the rich and satisfying life Jesus said He came to give us—and as we move forward in each progression the Kingdom is extended.  As members of LifeGate, each progression makes us healthier as individuals and moves us forward in Heaven’s vision for our church.

1.   “Christ loves us….” The lost get saved, the hurting get healed, the broken get fixed. This happens when we gather together in our large meetings.  It’s important that our weekend celebrations are a safe place for you to bring your friends and family, the unconnected and the disconnected.
Weekend Celebrations – Experiencing God’s love, forgiveness and freedom.

2.   “…lets us rule as kings…” The saved get pastored. This starts with learning to manage (rule) our own lives well.  That happens as we make healthy connections, find mentors, models, friends and partners.  (Example: Melissa and Denise Wham—response to doctor’s exam of Kayla)
Connect – Developing Biblical skills for victorious life.  Doing Life together Sunday to Sunday.

3.   “…serve God, His Father, as priests…” The pastored become disciples. Discipleship doesn’t happen through information impartation, it happens as we join with others to serve God.  We learn what our specific unique gifts are and we learn how to use them, how to operate in order and under authority.  “You’ve have to get under what God puts you under before you can get over what God puts you over.”
Dream Team – Serving God in my church.  The Bible teaches that we serve “the household of faith” first.

4.   “To Him be glory… “  The disciples become ministers. We live an others-focused life, working together to transform our communities, our region and the world by serving others.  The fulfilled life is not found just by using my God-given gifts, it is found by using those gifts for the good of others.
Servolution – Fulfilling my destiny by sharing His hope all over the world.

The result is a continuously growing, healthy, happy church filled with continuously growing healthy, happy people living the Blessed Life and making the name of Jesus famous all over the world.

The ultimate reward:  Not all the blessings of the rich and satisfying life, not all the good we will experience as we follow His vision, not all the personal benefits.  The ultimate reward will be hearing our Savior, our King, the One who paid it all for us say:
Matthew 25:23 “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful…Enter into the joy of your lord.”

Sermon Notes:

WHOLLY (Psalm 103:3b & Luke 5:27-32)

Psalm 103:3b, “He heals all my diseases”. Disease is not God's will for us. Wholeness is. Heaven on Earth is God’s plan for us.

Wholeness is a benefit of the salvation Jesus, the Great Physician offers. Jesus specializes in making people whole by saving them (Luke 5:31-32). He cures everything from the common cold to suicidal tendencies and everything in between. He treats the spirit as well as the body and soul. Jesus is the Great Physician.

He Healed a Paralytic's Body

Luke 5:24-25, “24 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” 25 And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God.”

He Healed a Tax Collectors Spirit and Soul

Luke 5:27-30, “27 Later, as Jesus left the town, he saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. 28 So Levi got up, left everything, and followed him. 29 Later, Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests also ate with them. 30 But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with such scum?”

The Paralytic and the Tax Collector experienced heaven on earth when they met Jesus, the Great Physician. Before they met Jesus, they were broken (empty & dysfunctional). When they met Jesus they discovered wholeness (life, freedom & health).

The Paralytic and the Tax Collector celebrated Jesus in response to being made whole. They discovered that praising Jesus, the Great Physician was good for them and their friends. Praising Jesus with others is a healthy way to deal with the diseased world we lived in.

Like the paralytic and tax collector, I praised Jesus, the Great Physician when He made me whole by saving me. Before I met Him I was identity-less. In just one summer I went from being a popular High School kid to a junior college nobody headed toward a career that I dreaded. And to top it all off I was at odds with my parents because of my dumb choices. I will never forget the night Jesus showed up on the side of the road and made me whole by saving me. He transformed me from a suicidal young adult into someone who learned that praise is good for the soul.

Praise is a Good Exercise for the Soul. It declares that we trust Jesus and agree with His Word regardless of what we are facing, which renews our mind, encourages our heart and inspires our will. It builds up our immunity to the diseased world we live in. It gives us a glimpse of what life would be like if we were free, joyful, content and hopeful every day despite our circumstances.

So the next time sin or sickness try to beat up on you, fight back by praising Jesus, the healer of all of our diseases. Remember, the facts may say you are finished but the truth says "it is finished" because Jesus took care of the facts on the cross.

Psalm 103

Unwrapping the Gift of Salvation-Forgiven, Forgotten and Always Loved

Don’t become desensitized to what we are reading in the Word.  Don’t lose our sense of wonder, excitement and joy as we read the Bible.
Verse 3: He forgives me
Verse 12:  He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west. (This is permanent, never to be seen again. If I head east and my sins head west, we will never meet again.)
Verse 17: The love of the Lord remains forever

Point 1:

If anyone deserves to hold on to hurt and not forget, it would be God.  We put human attributes on God because that’s what we know. We therefore think He must be like us.  We think it’s impossible for Him to look at us and not remember our past because we struggle with putting it behind us. He made a choice to forgive, forget and love unconditionally. We can make the same choice.

Hosea and Gomer:  A beautiful example of God and His church.  This is a model of how He forgives us to the uttermost.  It is a choice, He chooses to love us unconditionally, restoring us through Jesus Christ

Hosea 1:  at the very place where it was said You are not my people, it will be said, You are children of the living God.

Hosea 14: 4 Then I will heal you of your faithlessness; my love will know no bounds, for my anger will be done forever

How good are we at forgiving, forgetting and loving others as He does for us?  Fortunately for us, God’s power to forgive, forget and love is perfect.

Paul had to choose to forgive himself.  God was looking at Paul’s potential.  Paul had to make a choice:  Do I stay in a mindset of inferiority, failure, insecurities and regret.  Instead, he believed God, he allowed God to change him by changing the way he thinks. (He renews our mind with His Word!)  The history of the world was changed.  God wants to use you to change the history of your world, but we have to get up, get going again. Let go of the past.  God has already forgotten and forgiven.  Don’t let the past be the thing that holds me back from the very best God has for my future.  Believe God and be free.

Point 2: Personal Story of  Forgiving, Forgetting and Always Loving

Closing:

Application: Am I ready to walk in all God has for me?  Am I ready to let go of things that hold me back?  Am I willing to allow God to show me areas where I haven’t accepted His forgiveness and love?  Am I willing to allow Him to show me areas where I haven’t forgiven, forgotten and always loved?

Know what God says about it.  Believe God has forgiven, forgotten and loves me always.  Talk like it, act like it, think like it.  Make decisions like it!  Guard what comes out of my mouth, let it reflect what the Bible says about me and others.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God! Life with Jesus is a great adventure when we walk in the freedom He died to give us.

Sermon Notes:

Psalm 103:1-2 “Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.  2 Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.”

Salvation, Week 1—This Blood:

Ephesians 2:13 “But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.”

Unwrapping the Gift of Salvation:

Salvation is a gift that keeps on giving.  It is full of benefits and God wants every believer to know the full benefit package we get when we are saved by This Blood of Jesus.  John 1:16 (Message) “We all live off Jesus’ generous bounty, gift after gift after gift.”

Salvation:  A 3 part process that begins with an event and ends with a prize:

1.   The Event:  Have been saved from the penalty of sin (Matthew 1:21)
2.   The Process:  Are being saved from the power of sin (Our daily victory over sin. Romans 6:6-22; Revelation 12)
3.   The Prize, Heaven: Shall be saved from the presence of sin (The rapture of the Church.  1 John 3:2)

We are lost.  Luke 19:10
    *    3 deaths (the Biblical definition of death never means cessation of life, it always means separation.)
        -    Physical: man’s spirit and soul are separated from man’s body
        -    Spiritual: man is separated from God.  Man’s spirit is cut off from the life and nature of God—His Spirit
        -    Eternal or Second Death: man is forever separated from God and Heaven in Hell
    *    Sin separates us from God, causing death.
        -    Sin entered the human race through its 1st representative—Adam. (Genesis 5:3—Adam reproduced his own image) 1 Corinthians 15:21-22, 45; Romans 5

We need a Savior.
    *    John 3:1-7
        -    We must be born again
        -    We need a new nature
        -    We must experience a spiritual rebirth (our spirit is dead = separated)
        -    We won’t get to Heaven (eternal life vs. eternal death) without being born again
    *    John 3:16-17
        -    According to the Word, what must we do to be saved (found)?  Believe in Him.
        -    Religion happens when we add anything to that. Religion is man’s attempt to cover our sin.

Salvation is a gift.  Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8
    *    It must be accepted (a choice must be made) John 4:10
    *    It must be received (a gift received but unopened remains a mystery and does no good.) Romans 4:16

Salvation must be shared.  (Grateful people are Gracious People--Make Him famous)
    *    2 Corinthians 6:1-2   We must share this wonderful gift.  That’s why the Psalmist starts his unpacking of salvation in Psalm 103 with the proclamation that he will always share it with others: Psalm 103:1-2

Sermon Notes:

1st Sunday is Vision Sunday.

*   Make the Vision BIG so we can see it when we are wide open, in pressurized situations, blurred by our feelings and emotions, battling fear because of bad reports, disqualifying ourselves because of mistakes, or becoming complacent or overconfident because everything is going so well.

Ok, then, how do we find our place as ministers?

Our model of ministry:  Moving people from an experience to their destiny.

Revelation 1:5b-6 “Christ loves us and by his blood he set us free from our sins. He lets us rule as kings and serve God his Father as priests. To him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.”

4 progressions from Experience to Destiny.

The Principle of Multiplication

Sermon Notes:

The Principle of Multiplication

There is a Biblical principle, built into creation itself by God, called Multiplication.  The 1st blessing God spoke over human beings was “be fruitful and multiply”.  We struggle thinking in multiplication terms.  When God told Abram, who became Abraham, that he would become the father of nations, Abram couldn’t think past “a son”.  God took him outside and showed him the stars, painted a picture for him of multiplication, and basically said, “Quit thinking addition, start thinking multiplication.”  Today, the Bible says that Abraham is the father of our faith.  If you are a Christian, Abraham is your natural father—that is multiplication!  It requires supernatural intervention.  It requires God’s involvement in our actions.

We see it in creation.  Plant an apple seed and you don’t get an apple, you get a tree full of apples—Multiplication.  Supernatural intervention.  “Anybody can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the apples in a seed.” Tom Paterson.

Jesus taught that when we give for the good of the Kingdom, expecting nothing in return, then the multiplication principle will kick in and we will see 30, 60, 100 fold return on our giving.  As we have learned all month, when we become a conduit for God’s resources, when we give because we are grateful, when generosity is our goal and not getting, then we will live the Blessed Life.

Today, we will come and bring what we have, our Thanksgiving Offering.  We will give because we “have a heart for the house”.  When we do that, seeking nothing but the blessing of God’s Kingdom, we activate the multiplication principle.  Over the coming weeks, months and years, you will see the power of multiplication as God multiplies the time, talent and resources you invest into His Kingdom.  People’s lives will be changed forever, including our own, as a result of our worship in giving today.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 (NLT) “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”  (AMP) “…God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving]…”
Multiplication Principle:  Give from gratefulness, give with your heart engaged with God, as an act of worship, full of joy because of the opportunity to honor the God who set you free, and you activate the multiplication principle—like the farmer who plants the apple seed.

Luke 9:12-17 (MESSAGE) 12As the day declined, the Twelve said, "Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the farms or villages around here and get a room for the night and a bite to eat. We're out in the middle of nowhere."  13-14"You feed them," Jesus said.  They said, "We couldn't scrape up more than five loaves of bread and a couple of fish—unless, of course, you want us to go to town ourselves and buy food for everybody." (There were more than five thousand people in the crowd.)  14-17But he went ahead and directed his disciples, "Sit them down in groups of about fifty." They did what he said, and soon had everyone seated. He took the five loaves and two fish, lifted his face to heaven in prayer, blessed, broke, and gave the bread and fish to the disciples to hand out to the crowd. After the people had all eaten their fill, twelve baskets of leftovers were gathered up.

1.    “You feed them” We are His representatives here, we are the way He meets needs on this planet.  “Bring Me what you have” is His request.

2.   “Sit them down in groups of fifty” Each of us has a circle of influence.  As a church, we have a circle of influence.  He expects us to use our resources to increase the Kingdom’s influence in that circle.

3.   “He took the loaves and fishes, looked toward Heaven, blessed them and broke them” If we are going to influence our circle with our resources, we must look to Heaven for supernatural intervention.  Hebrews 7:8 (NKJV) “Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he (Jesus) receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.”  We give here, but our giving is received in Heaven by Jesus Himself.  He blesses it.  Touch Heaven, Change Earth.

4.   “He gave the bread to the disciples to hand out” He takes what we give Him, blesses it, and puts it in our hands to reach those in our circle of influence. The miracle of multiplication happened in the disciples’ hands.  They brought what they had (5 loaves and 2 fish), gave it to Jesus with a willing heart (note their “cheerful giver” response—“We’ll go into town and buy enough to feed this crowd is you want us to.”), He blessed it and broke it calling on Heaven to touch it, and as they used it to meet the needs in each circle it multiplied in their hands!

5.   “twelve baskets of leftovers” Note the completion of the Multiplication Principle:  you give with a heart for the Kingdom, a heart for His house.  Heaven touches your giving and you use it for the good of others, and your house is blessed—note 2 Corinthians 9:8 “Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”  Big difference in the Multiplication Principle and the “Giving to Get” thinking—Multiplication is activated when we give in response to His goodness (a grateful heart) and for the good of His Kingdom and the good of others (a generous heart).
