The Chronicles of Narnia—Prince Caspian
This Great Adventure: Staying ‘childlike’ in a grown-up world. Staying amazed by Christianity instead of becoming bored and earthly minded. Seeing the greatness of God’s plan and work in our lives.
C. S. Lewis used a literary technique known as defamiliarizing
Defamiliarizing –To present an unfamiliar artistic form that stimulates fresh perception.
Matthew 18:4(KJV) Whosoever shall humble himself as a little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Luke 18:17 (MSG) Unless you accept God’s Kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you will never get in.
1. Believe like a child
2. Receive like a child
3. Have faith like a child
-----------------
The movie starts with Prince Caspian’s uncle trying to kill him and take the throne. Prince Caspian escapes finding himself in danger and blows the special Rams horn that summons the Kings and Queens of old.
Scene1:
==============
Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy return to Narnia, but find everything has changed since they left.
Romans 8:18-21( MSG )—That’s why I don’t think there is any comparison between the present hard times and the coming good times. The created world itself can hardly wait for what’s coming next. Everything in creation is being more or less held back. God reins it in until both creation and all the creatures are ready and can be released at the same moment in the glorious times ahead. Meanwhile, the joyful anticipation deepens.
How do we change?
We change the way we think.
Romans 12:2( MSG) – Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
2 Peter 2:7-8( KJV) – and delivered Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul form day to day with their unlawful deeds)
Today: killing, perversion, porn, movies, TV, Games etc.
Hardness of heart—(Unbelief)
Matthew 13: 15( MSG) – The people are blockheads! They stick their fingers in their ears so they won’t have to listen; They screw their eyes shut so they won’t have to look, so they won’t have to deal with me face-to-face and let me heal them.
How did Jesus deal with Hardness of heart and unbelief?
Mark 6:4-6(KJV) A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty works, save he laid his hands upon a few sick fold, and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages teaching.
Scene 2:
==========
They fought one battle on their own and had great loss. Their next battle the enemy came to them. They sent Lucy to find Aslan, realizing their need for His help.
What can I do to correct my unbelief and hardness of heart?
1. Repent for not staying childlike in my faith.
2. Daily look to the Word of God and worship.
3. Open our eyes again Lord to the Majesty of Your plan and Your works.
Revelation 22:16-17 (MSG) “I Jesus, sent my Angel to testify to these things for the churches. I’m the Root and Branch of David, the Bright Morning Star.” “Come!” Say the Spirit and the Bride. Whoever hears, “Come!” Is anyone thirsty? Come! All who will, come and drink, Drink freely of the Water of Life!
